We have grouped together all of the other smaller villages that are to be found outside of the 2 valleys areas, but that are within a half an hour drive from the main villages. If you are looking for a property in a more rural location then you may wish to look in this area.
La Vernaz

La Vernaz has probably some of the most magnificent views for the area as it sits on top of a pass between the Vallée d'Aulps and valley of Bellevaux. From the top of the village you can see across to lake Geneva. La Vernaz is a 15 to 20 minute drive from Morzine, but is only 15 minutes from Thonon. The village was given a lease of life a few years ago when the local council approved the building of a whole area of new chalets above the village and just next to the local school which has 50 pupils. As well as these new chalets the village is mostly made up of older farm houses and 'maisons de village'. There are no shops or many services in La Vernaz, but the baker from Le Biot provides a delivery service to the whole village. La Vernaz is probably one of the cheapest surrounding village in the Portes du Soleil, you can get a lot more for your money here, but be prepared for a quiet life !
