Abondance area

Abondance has all the charms of a traditional village as well as its own ski slopes.

Abondance has all the charms of a traditional Savoyard village, with the advantage of being just a 20 minute drive from Thonon and the beaches of lake Geneva and 10 minutes from the ski slopes of Chatel. Abondance is famous for its cheese and for its medieval abbey which includes a church, cloisters and religious art museum. There are hardly any 'high rise' buildings in the village and most of the properties for sale here are typical Savoyard chalets or farms. There are a couple of hotels, restaurants and bars in the village centre which are open all year round, as well as a couple of small food shops.

La Chapelle d'Abondance

La Chapelle d'Abondance lies halfway between the village of Abondance and Chatel. The village is stretched out over a couple of kilometres, which means that there isn't a real 'town centre'. There are however loads of hotels, restaurants and shops as well as direct access to the slopes of the Portes du Soleil. Like Abondance, the style of the architecture is on the whole typically Savoyard , yet there are more 'high rise' apartment blocks, particularly at the foot of the ski lifts. If you are looking to buy a ski-in, ski-out apartment at a reasonable price (compared to Chatel or Morzine) then La Chapelle is the place for you.
